Ellipses

Use an ellipsis (...) to:

• Indicate deleted words or truncate text where there is limited space.
• Convey action happening in the background (such as a waiting or loading state). 
• Let users know in inline hint text in the product UI that the user is expected to input information.

Keep in mind

Do not use an ellipsis to denote pauses. 

Make sure there’s no space between the last letter and the first period.

Don’t use an ellipsis in a call-to-action on a button to communicate that there’s a page or action beyond the button.
